Saturday 28th October. Youth 2000 2 – Savile Youth 2 They called it a derby, they said it would be a heated affair, they were expecting a thriller. Hell they were expecting fireworks, but what they got was an explosion. An explosion of brilliance, intensity, excitement and moreover, an ‘edge of the seat thriller’. The lads didn’t disappoint. Savile youth started of the first half with an amazing finish from the boot of veteran striker Imran Patel whose turn and shot rippled the top corner. Drogba esq. Savile youth were on top in the first half but soon the tables were turning in the second half as Youth 2000 equalised through a back post header, then took the lead with what could be regarded as a controversial but never the less an opportunistic goal. This revived Savile youth’s spirits and soon it was back to business with midfielder Mohsin Hazis shot cleared of the line. Then in the final few minutes a bomb shell from no other than Savile youth’s captain fantastic Ozayr Munshi. A Cantona style volley from the edge of the box through a sea of players. Keeper had no chance, and so it finished with both teams taking home a point each. Both sets of players having exhausted every sinew and ounce of effort and providing the huge contingent of travelling Savile youth’s fans with an entertaining afternoon of football. ----------------------------------------------------
